What Our Clients Say

We are parents of a 16-year-old daughter, and a 13-year-old son who are clients of Coach Terry’s “Village of Hope, Tracy Deon Hairston Foundation” (TDH). We cannot express enough how grateful we are for Coach Terry and the positive impact TDH has had on our children’s overall well-being, not to mention the obvious - their physical & mental health. Coach Terry, or Coach “T”, as we call him, is the most selfless person we have ever known. He is supportive and motivating, and he treats each client as the individual they are. He has a unique way of understanding exactly what each or our kids need. We are certain his years of experience as a trainer, life coach and as a recovery trainer has plenty to do with his understanding. We have never seen a professional invest so much in the positive outcome of another’s life as Coach “T” does. Sure, parents can encourage their children to do positive things, but that can go in one ear and out the other. Our children respect and look up to Coach “T” as a role model - and one they do not want to disappoint. Coach “T” is, and continues to be the voice that reaches them, and that’s remarkable.

When I was barely 30 days sober from alcohol, I was given an opportunity to join Gym Team America Fitness for a six-week training program for people during early Recovery. I had been given a six-week program of weight training, with the conditions of staying sober, attending 4 - 12-Step meetings a week, and showing up to the gym with a willingness and focus on physical fitness. I was introduced to Coach Terry and his wife, Kim. I was immediately embraced with their focus on ME. Having a one-on-one training showed and proved to me, that during my session, that I was their only FOCUS because I was the most important person in the room. It was very evident. Which was important to me during my early recovery. I was in the beginning of re-identifying who I was and who I wanted to become. Before I could fully believe in myself, trust myself, have confidence in myself, Coach instilled those with training for he saw all of that in me. Terry believed in me, trusted me, and watched my confidence grow. This was very instrumental in my early recovery. As I am writing this, I am nearing One Year of Sobriety. I know that Gym Team America Fitness and Coach Terry and Kim played a huge role and part of my journey. While during the training, I heard about Tracy Deon Hairston’s story of addiction. I could see how much impact that his life has played in many others. I will do what I can to honor his name. For me, just a small donation is doing my part for now. Many thanks and gratitude to Gym Team America Fitness and Coach Terry and Kim. I love your team and your vision.
